Reflection

When I first learned of the global learning initiative at the school and saw some of the accolades of the students that participated in this program I was intimidated as someone who is introverted and renowned recluse amongst my family and associates completing this program seemed a monumental task in regards to other students who have created social programs and traveled to some of the most majestic sites. As the school year progressed I saw a need both within myself and of society, I came to the conclusion that I wanted to push myself against my normal boundaries and take the initiative to learn and understand certain topics and through that be able to speak and have an insightful discussion about topics such as race and religion in your everyday life to spread awareness, educate and stimulate conversations that bring about solutions to these problems we all face as individuals. As a society, there is one thing we must all remember which is, if we never learn from our past we are doomed to repeat it, this idea is relevant even today, and no matter how far we as a society have come technology if the majority of peoples action are shrouded by ignorance and the refusal to change we will continue to fall back and if I have a voice I should use it. My generation will eventually be the leaders and thinkers down the line it is our due diligence to have the knowledge and proactiveness to change it for the better. It doesn't matter if my voice is not loud as long as my voice is heard that is what matters and why I decided to eventually join the Global Learning program.    While being a recluse may have been what limited me in the past,  that has not defined my future, from all the knowledge I have acquired through the global learning initiative what I have learned these past years is truly the greatest gift I have gotten from Florida International University which is the goal of the global learning medallion program, is to learn and in turn teach others.
